I stopped coloring nine months ago at the age of 63. I had been dying since my late 20s and started becoming sensitive. In recent years I was light bleached blonde being done only with full head highlights so nothing would be on my scalp.
My last appointment I was over bleached and it cost $298.00. I said that is enough!
Fortunately the way the color was applied along with the fact my natural hair is mostly silvery white made the growing out process totally painless. We cut my extremely thick and very curly hair fairly short, trimmed every 5 weeks and in 9 months it is mostly grown out. I stopped cutting to grow out length and now, at 64, I have beautiful growing silver ringlets.
The color is very flattering with my dark brown eyes and even people who thought I was crazy to do this are saying how nice it looks. Instead of washing me out as anticipated it gives me a glow.
However I do need to grow it longer to avoid that old lady curly helmet look but that is an easy task as my hair grows very fast.
